Seeds are not anchored yet. A heavy pour can make channels in soil, push seeds too deep, or wash them to one side of the pot. Fine mist drops spread moisture slowly across the surface and help seeds stay where you planted them. That stable position matters because each seed needs oxygen, moisture, and warmth at the right depth. Gentle watering also protects tiny root hairs that appear first.
