Fresh lemon juice looks almost clear on white paper. It is mostly water plus citric acid and natural sugars. When the water evaporates, the leftover juice blends with the paper fibers so your letters seem to vanish. Spies and soldiers used similar tricks long before modern pens. The secret is not magic. It is chemistry waiting for the right trigger. Heat is that trigger, and it changes the color of the sugars stuck in the fibers.
