ART COMES BACK TO LIFE
Around the year 1300, something amazing began in the city of Florence in Italy. Artists started to break away from the flat, gold background style of medieval art. They wanted their figures to look real, with weight, shadow and feeling. This new spirit is called the Renaissance, which means rebirth. Wealthy families and church leaders paid artists to decorate walls and churches with fresh, lifelike scenes. Florence became the beating heart of this change, and the whole world of art would never be the same again.
⚡ DID YOU KNOW?
Renaissance means rebirth in French. Artists looked back to ancient Greece and Rome for ideas about how to show the human body and the world more naturally.
