One famous legend says an Ethiopian goat herder named Kaldi noticed his goats leaping with energy after eating wild berries. The story is a legend, not a proven science report, but it points to Africa as coffee's early home. People later roasted the seeds, ground them, and brewed a dark drink. That drink traveled farther than almost any other farm crop.
