WHEN SOUND MAKES THINGS SHAKE!
Resonance happens when an object vibrates at its natural frequency because of another nearby sound. It can make a musical instrument sound much louder or even shatter a glass with high-pitched notes. Every solid thing has a favorite vibration speed called its natural frequency. When incoming sound waves push at exactly that speed, the object joins in and shakes harder and harder. The energy builds up instead of fading away.

Natural frequency is the vibration rate an object prefers when you tap, pluck, or shake it. A short, stiff guitar string vibrates fast and makes a high note. A long, loose string vibrates slowly and makes a low note. Size, shape, and material all change the natural frequency. A tiny bell rings high. A big church bell rings low. Resonance only kicks in when the incoming sound matches that special rate.
