BORN ON SACRED DELOS
Apollo and Artemis were twin brother and sister. Their father was Zeus, king of the gods. Their mother was Leto, a Titan. Myths say Hera was jealous and made lands refuse Leto a place to rest. Leto wandered until the island of Delos welcomed her. There the twins were born, and Delos became a holy place. From the start, storytellers cast them as a matched pair: one bright with music and skill, the other strong and quiet in the wild woods.
