SMALL, FAST, AND OPEN TO THE SKY
A motorcycle is a two-wheeled motor vehicle you straddle and steer with handlebars. It uses far less fuel and metal than a car, so it became one of the most common personal vehicles on Earth. In the 1880s, inventors in Europe began attaching small petrol engines to bicycle frames. Early machines were noisy, shaky, and brave-only. Over time, better brakes, tyres, and frames made them smoother. Today more than 600 million motorcycles and similar two-wheelers are in use worldwide, especially in Asia where they fit narrow streets and tight budgets.
⚡ DID YOU KNOW?
India and China together account for a huge share of global motorcycle use because they are affordable daily transport for millions of families.
VROOM!
1880s
Early motorised bicycle with tiny engine and large front wheel
🔧 Gottlieb Daimler's 1885 Reitwagen is often called the first true motorcycle, a wooden frame with a small engine.
🚲 Inventors started from bicycles because wheels and pedals already worked well on roads.
HANDLEBARS

🎯 You steer with handlebars, speed up with a throttle, and squeeze levers to brake both wheels.
⚖️ Balance matters because two wheels tip over more easily than four on a car.
